Einar Johanson Insulation and Glass, Inc. is one of the longest-operating, independently owned construction firms in Washington state. When Einar started the company in 1957, it sold and installed insulation exclusively. Windows and doors were added a few years later, now making up all current sales and installations.
Einar has a simple, tried-and-true business philosophy: treat people fairly, provide good value, and don’t use high-pressure sales tactics. Einar extends a similar approach to his employees, many of whom have been with him for decades: treat them well, pay them a good salary with benefits, and it will return in loyalty and quality of work. In an industry plagued with high employee turnover and, sadly, installation and product failures, Einar Johanson is as proud of his employee retention as he is of the fact that he has operated for 51 years without ever being involved in a litigation against him or his company.
He is equally proud of his Norwegian heritage, and his approach to business is reflective of the quality and service standards for which his Norwegian descendants are known. Not only does Einar’s Norwegian background give him a service and quality advantage, it also provided him a great sense of humor; he once copyrighted and sold bumper stickers with the slogan "Columbus used a Norwegian Map".
